Sumati

Sumati
hails from the south of Spain but has lived in Toronto with her husband and two
children for the last nine years. She
has been a certified Hatha Yoga teacher since 2006 through the school of
Sivananda. Sumati has been a dedicated
teacher in the Sivananda Centre on Harbord Street for the last five years,
teaching various levels of courses and classes from beginners to advanced. The Sivananda Centre is an internationally
renowned centre for traditional Hatha Yoga and has helped Sumati with her knowledge
of this ancient science dedicated to body and soul.
Sumati has taught students from many diverse backgrounds in group lessons and private lessons. She has also been involved in yoga for children with autism and feels a special bond for the simple power of yoga to help bring about positive change, both physically and emotionally. Her experiences have given her the courage to design her own classes: SOLAR YOGA (morning exercise) and LUNAR YOGA (evening exercise), both within the framework of traditional HATHA YOGA exercises.
Sumati reminds us that the practice of Hatha Yoga is the combination of pranayamas (breathing exercises) and asanas (poses). These practices aim to serve as a kind of high level preventative medicine, improving optimal performance in keeping away both physical and metal disease. Through continuous practice of yoga our body and mind can act healthily and harmoniously.
